The short conical tower at Keri is attached to a square , single-story dwelling high on the cliff of Cape Marathia on the southern tip of Zakynthos Island. It sits only about 30 feet (9 meters) from the edge of the sheer, wind- scoured cliff and may someday succumb to erosion and tuble into the sea delow. Ironically, Keri means "candle" or "wax".
The endagered Caretta-Caretta sea turtles breed here in tidepools below the lighthouse and there are many sea caves. Just off the point lie two pyramid shaped white rocks called the Mizithres, named for a type of mild white feta cheese. Individually the rocks are named Megali Mizithra ("large white cheese") and Mikri Mizithra ("small white cheese")
The lighthouse in not open to the public but is easy to reach via a paved road from the village of Keri. Near the tower there is parking area popular with sunset seekers.
