LIGHTHOUSE MURTOS (SIVOTA)

This lighthouse was manufactured in 1884 from the French Company of Ottoman lighthouses. The altitude of tower is 14 metres and the height of focal plane is 87 metres.

The access to the lighthouse becomes with boat from the Syvota. The lighthouse included in the Greek lighthouses network afterwards the Balkan wars 1912-13. Sivota is known from the famous naval battle of Sivota in 433 b.C. between the people of Korinthos and Corfu.The two green islets at the bay of Murtos are considered, according to the traditions, as Sivota islands that the historian Thukididis mentioded.
