The lighthouse of Aspropounta can be seen during a walk on Folegandros Island�s sheltered southwestern coast of Livadaki beach. The lighthouse is 58 meter above the sea level and has an 11-meter tall light. The height of focal plane is 70 metres. The 1919 model is visible from as far as 17 miles. The lighthouse has seen the growth of technology since the day it started operating in 1921. The lighthouse was lit by a wick, but it was later upgraded to a petroleum gas mechanism. The lighthouse became dependent on solar energy since 1986 and has been performing through the trapping of sun rays� energy efficiently. The lighthouse is accessible both from Livadaki and Ano Meria.
